The Trojans of USC have 88 points this season which is tied with Pepperdine and tied with them as the No. 3 team nationally. They are just seven points shy of Cal and 12 points shy of UCLA, the top team nationally. This team has lost just twice this season with a 10-2 record. Those two losses came against UCLA and Cal. The Cardinals have a total of 80 points this season, which is eight points behind Pepperdine and USC and four points ahead of Princeton who sits at 76 points this season. These two teams played each other just a couple of weeks ago in a game that went to overtime and was eventually won by USC at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.

The first period came to a close 2-2 with USC goals from Tom McGuire and Zach Bettino while Stanford's Ethan Parrish and Jack Merrill scored. Stanford took a 6-5 lead at halftime after Jack Painter scored twice in the quarter.
USC came back with three straight goals to open up the third quarter with two from Max Miller while Stanford closed it off with three goals of its own to keep the one-point lead. With three goals to Stanford's two in the fourth quarter, the game was sent to overtime. Massimo Di Martire, who sent the game to overtime, was the first to score in the extra time and eventually give the team the win.
